The Seagle Family 4th Annual Christmas Letter 2009
As you have noticed our greeting on our Christmas card is a little casual and funny (I think). It reads.... Have a Merry Freakin Christmas! Clay doesn’t think it's very Christmasy, and neither do I, that’s what makes it funny! The girls are in agreement with me, and laugh every time I say it to them. Kevin just grunts. That is why Kevin's new nickname is Caveman. Given to him from his mommy! Anyway the holidays are whizzing by and Halloween barely ended a couple of weeks ago. I still have pumpkins that are rotting on the porch (gross) which really need to be thrown away. Wow what can I say for this year? Except that we still haven’t completely adjusted to having 3 kids yet. Kevin is already 16 months old and I keep wondering when that feeling of I have it under control is going to set in. I'm hopeful that will happen in a few more years (I can dream right).
January- January was pretty uneventful for us. Addison was still in So Big Co-Op Preschool and had a great time with Mrs. Mary and her friends. I registered Addison for Kindergarten and I think I was more excited than she was to take that next step. We had play dates, doctor appointments, fieldtrips and Clay and I team taught the CTR 7 class at our church. I got to take Abby and Kevin to our ward music makers on Tuesdays. More like chasing them around and trying to get two kids to sit in my lap! Of course I was still doing my massage clients very part time to help out my family. Or should I just say extra fun money for mommy to get a pedicure once in a while.
February- February we had lots of planning with the fundraising activities in preschool. Abby turned the big 2 and we just celebrated at home and I made a yummy chocolate cake from scratch.
March-We got to see Brianna our niece get baptized! Eight really is great! Addison had a Mad Hatters Tea Party at preschool with gamma Sherrill as her special guest. I was part of the committee to put this tea party together and it was very satisfying to see it turn out so well! We all had such a great time just being together with friends and family. Clay and I got to celebrate our Anniversary close to home in San Francisco for the weekend thanks to grammas. It was soooooo refreshing to just be together, just us with no interruptions from I won’t say who.
April- More field trips and the Easter Bunny came to visit the preschool. We spent Easter with Clay's cousin’s family in Discovery Bay. I made my yummy peach cobbler. Kind of a favorite my mom used to always make for us when we were little. Story time at the Brentwood library for Abby and Kevin, which I found not so relaxing because, again I was trying to get two of my children to sit in my lap at the same time. You would think I would learn by now? Addison had her Spring Carnival at the Fair Grounds which I helped plan and put together. By our surprise we had a great turn out and helped the preschool earn some revenue.
May- In May we got to go camping at Dinkey Creek with Clay's family and enjoyed watching the kids have fun with hiking, mud and surprisingly very little bugs. The weather was perfect and nothing crazy happened to anyone at all! Kevin started crawling on the last day of this month. Yahoo for Kevin!! Clay celebrated is 32nd birthday and didn’t like it one bit! Getting older was a little tough for him this year!
June- June was a doozy! Clay's father passed away from an extremely aggressive brain tumor and diabetes as well. We attended his funeral in Fresno, Ca with all the family. The service was very nice and all the siblings got up and told of there best moment with their dad. Clay's was the summer he got to work on one of his dad's old cars with him the entire summer. It has taken some adjusting for Clay, but he visits his dad every time he skydive's. His father was a paratrooper in the army when he was much younger.
July- We celebrated Kevin's First birthday with a beach theme and beach balls. Clay and I made cupcakes with graham cracker sand , blue water, umbrellas and a swimming teddy graham. We had such a great time with all of the family who came to support Kevin on his big day! We got to go to Bear Lake for my family reunion which was an extremely long drive! We got to hang out on the beach at the Lake and have great boat rides and skidoo fun. We even went to a rodeo and watched the little kids run after a small pig! I celebrated my birthday with a brownie birthday bash on the beach. Yum, Yum! I came back home with an all wood dresser that my mom refinished for Kevin. Thanks a million mom!
August- I started trading massage for piano lessons with Rosie. It lasted a few months until I realized that my practice time was very little and I just couldn’t focus on the lessons. That will have to be something I do when my kids are all in school. It was fun while it lasted! Addison had her first sleep over with her friend Jasiah at our house. We made mini pizzas for dinner and watched movies and had popcorn. I think I painted their toes too. We all had a great time.
September- The girls have been taking dance classes on Fridays and wow are they scary talented. Abby has some extreme hip action in her dancing moves. It's really very scary for me to watch. Clay says he will have to get another shot gun for the boys when she gets to dating age. Addison has a lot of strength and creativity in her moves. Kevin feels left out and is always trying to join in class. Addison celebrated her 5th birthday party and got a brand new bike. So that Abby could get her hand me down bike. She basically claimed it as her own anyway. I did my first Scrap Book Retreat as a vendor. I did an outrageous amount of massages at the Concord Hilton and came home pretty exhausted! The event was very successful and I am doing it again next year. In fact I think I will have up to 6 different retreats that I will do massage at next year.
October- We did lots of trick or treating at our community events and our ward Halloween party. We got to spend Halloween with the cousins in Fresno because Clay ended up being on call all weekend. Tons of fun to hang out with the gang! Addison did her first Kindergarten field trip to the pumpkin patch in Livermore and her first bus ride. I got to go with her and the buses had seat belts. This brought back memories of when I would ride a bus to school and we never had seat belts. But the seats were still really, really close together. So Addison and I got some bus bonding time! But best of all Kevin took his own grown up steps at 13 months! We were all so proud of our little Caveman!
November- I just got called to teach Young Women Miamaids at church and it has been such a wonderful experience so far. The girls face so much these days and they inspire me soooo much. We got our dreaded H1N1 flu shots and the kids didn’t even cry. Not one tear between all 3 of them. The nurses didn’t know what to do with well behaved kids. I got to see my cousin Cami and Candra in Sebastopol that I haven’t seen in probably over 20 years. I didn’t even know that they lived 2 hours away from me. It was a great time to reconnect and catch up on each others lives. Thanks ladies for making me feel so welcome! Off to Fresno for Thanksgiving this year. Clay will do his annual deep fried turkey! Yum!
December- We will head to my dads and go to Disneyland the first weekend of December. Dad and Pat are helping us out so we can just take Addison and she doesn’t even know she is going yet! Great things to come for the holiday season!
In conclusion the thing I have learned the most this year is .......laundry, dirty bathrooms and a dirty house isn’t the most important thing on my to do list. Hugging my kids and husband and always expressing love consistently is the most important thing to me on my own to do list every day!!!! What’s yours? We wish everyone a fun filled and grateful season! Don’t forget to thank the Lord for everything you have! Remember the reason for the Season!!
Love Always,
The Freakin Seagles (Its funny right?)
